The Aug. 11 “Ask the TH” reported that the city of Dubuque requires licenses for bikes. I thought they always had to have a license plate on their bikes.
Is $5 fair for “bikes” that cost anywhere from $100 to thousands? Why, then, does it cost a person with a more expensive auto a lot more for plates? This fee should have to be paid every year and at a rate of possibly $25.
Another item on “bikers” wanting “equal rights” – do they have to carry insurance? Why not? They want “equal rights.” It’s a law that you have to have insurance on a motor vehicle. I have seen a biker slam into the rear of an auto, fly up onto the trunk and break the rear window of that vehicle
